Dear Earth
Sorry for making you a hearth
Depriving ourselves of mirth
For of entitlement, there is no dearth
When we stopped seeing stars in the sky
We should have paused from weaving a lie
And asked why
Listening to you cry
Global warming someone said
That is not real, we turned our head
With species extinct, we didn’t care for the dead
As long as we were fed
To animals, of course, we are superior
Dominance is our motive ulterior
Of torture and cruelty, we have been a carrier
Confining the innocent in many a barrier
Trees are made and meant to be giving
In spite of our ingratitude, forgiving
We have failed to be loving
Even when we have seen the green disappearing
Polluted and depleted is our water
With marine life experiencing a batter
The ecosystem is under bountiful shatter
We ignore now to regret later
Melting ice and eroded topsoil
No value for the food, a result of toil
All we know is how to spoil
To leave the planet on a boil
Only when there is a pandemic
Crippling the humankind sick
Do we realise the prick
Of an action to be taken real quick
